Trajan 916 Band Saw

Trajan 916 Band Saw

The 916 band saw can easily handle typical production rates at typical job shops, small fabricators, and tool rooms because of their 9 inch by 16 inch cutting capacity. The capacity is practical, but the Trajan 916 ups the ante on all other 916 saws in a variety of ways. It’s a manual, pivot band saw that can handle a range of production environments with ease. When run with a carbide-tipped bandsaw blade, it can handle extremely hard metals, like nickel alloys and aerospace steels. The Trajan 916 band saw also drastically improves the life of your band saw blade.

Building the Trajan 916 Band Saw

How do we do it? First, we use high quality ductile cast iron to build the guide arms. This material absorb vibration better and keeps the blade stable while the saw is cutting. We also used a carbide guide system with roller bearings as pre-guides. They ensure shops can take full advantage of the Trajan 916 band saw’s cutting capacity for all variety of metals.

Then, we add a two horse power motor, which provides the saw with substantially more power and helps strengthen its frame.

When designing the Trajan 916 band saw, we were continually looking for ways to give saw operators more options. That’s why we included an infinitely variable blade speed pulley system that ranges from 95 to 402 fpm. Until now, this type of blade speed control was only available on higher-priced production saws.

New Cutting Capabilities

We also engineered the Trajan 916 band saw to give operators more control by designing the it with a heavy-duty cast base and saw vise. This combination enables operators to swivel the vise to cut up to 45 degrees in one direction.

Accurate Cutting Control

On other 916 saws, operators have to get a work piece close to the blade to measure for your cut. This practice can endanger saw operators and make accurate measurement difficult. To ensure more precise cuts and enhance saw user safety, we added a laser guide to the Trajan 916 band saw. It assists in positioning the work piece and assuring correct measurement.

When band saws are easier to run, jobs finish faster. Cuts are made more accurately. The down feed controls on the Trajan 916 band saw separate feed and hold from descent rates, so operators can achieve exact control over the saw head’s feed rate.

Quick Clean Up & Blade Protection

Our upgrades to the Trajan 916 band saw meant we also needed to add a self-contained coolant system. It provides a constant and steady flow of coolant, which increases the saw’s cutting capabilities. It can tackle harder materials without sacrificing blade life. We recommend an AF 2000 semi-synthetic or AF 3000 full synthetic coolant.

We also added a chip brush to the Trajan 916 band saw design. It helps remove chips from the blade teeth and stores them in a chip box, which is easy to remove and clean out. The conveniences we’ve incorporated into the Trajan 916 help saw operators reduce and simplify clean-up time.

The variety of features and upgrades we’ve added to the Trajan 916 makes this cutting machine a superior band saw. At Trajan, we make every machine better.
